Dr. Japheth Omule Ogenga, Ph.D.

Japheth is trainer and expert of disaster risk management, climate change adaptation with focus on social, economic and ecological sustainability from community, national and to global levels. He also adds up as a scholar with over five years of teaching and training on research and Disaster Management. He teaches at the University of Masinde Muliro in the school of Disaster management and Humanitarian Assistance; and also teaches on part time in Maseno University in the School of planning and Architecture for the Disaster Management programs.


Dr. Ogenga is an experienced mixed method researcher with over eight (8) years in the research space. He is a Research Fellow at the African Population and Health Research Center entrusted with Research protocol writing, Qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, and report writing. Prior, he has been involved in numerous consultancy research work for many international organizations such as Fred Hollows Foundation in collaboration with Busia County government on integrated eye care to reduce the risk of blind among the poor in Busia County; Fidish International Development Agency (FIDA) for a Mid Term Evaluation: opportunities for children and youth for quality education and safer living environments in Kenya, a country program; Anglican Development Services (ADS) for a Vulnerability and Risk assessment in the harsh geographies of Baringo, Laikipia and Samburu.


Dr. Ogenga is passionate about institutional, individual and community capacity strengthening for effective management of disasters towards the achievement of sustainable development through evidence generation.
